In an effort to build and
strengthen our team, specifically by broadening the opportunities
for more swimmers with a variety of experience to join the team, we
will be posting a volunteer sign up for the Recreational meet that
we are co-sponsoring, called “Meet of
Champions”. This event will
be located in Woodland, the weekend of July31-Aug1. This will be an
outreach activity to possibly attract seasonal swimmers to become
year round swimmers on our team. (This
is not a meet for our current team members, but rather, prospective
members.)
As
we are trying to build awareness of the Marlin team, we thought
this would be a great opportunity to have Marlin members available
at a designated tent to answer questions about being a Sierra
Marlin year round swimmer.We will also need volunteers to award each heat winner
with a cap and a coupon for a free week with the Marlins in the
fall. Our hope is to generate interest in our program and get the
word out that we are no longer in a waiting list situation.There will also be a
coach on hand during each of these shifts.
The meet is
expected to run 9 am-3 pm both Saturday and Sunday. Shifts will run 3 hours each (9-12 and 12-3). Those in need of volunteer hours, this is
especially good as we will count driving time both to and from the
event.
